Get to Know the Co.: Caitlin Wolf
This is the second edition of our series profiling a Collins + Co. employee to get more insight on her approach to PR and marketing and some of her favorites things.
What inspired you to pursue a career in PR/Marketing?
An integrated marketing class at the University of Maryland is what initially piqued my interest. My classmates and I were grouped into teams and challenged to create a marketing strategy for a product that was number two in its category. Somehow I convinced my team to let us choose Kotex tampons because of the fun we could have with female-focused messaging. We created an influencer marketing and advertising strategy that tied in humor and celebrities--well before influencer campaigns took off. I loved every second of it.
Name a brand that you respect and admire (not a client!):
Nordstrom. In addition to loving the in-store experience (the one time a year I go inside a mall), their online shopping experience is even more amazing. It’s so personalized, great return policy, and now I have a one-on-one connection with my Trunk Club stylist.
Daily news read or favorite Nat’l publication:
New York Times and The Skimm
Go-to tactic for creating long-term value for a client:
Telling the stories about the people behind the brand. I love uncovering fascinating details about how they got to where they are today, and their vision for making an impact for years to come.
App you cannot live without:
One last thing:
If I could create a game, it would be similar to “Heads Up” but for news junkies. One player would hold up a brand or topic displayed on a screen above their head and the other players would have to use news stories, headlines, or campaigns to help the person guess what it is.
This reminds me of brainstorming off-the-wall ideas for clients--one of my favorite things to do.
